English Chess Forum

Following on from the success of Millfield's Rapidplay in January we are hosting our first adult longplay event in a fortnight's time. The entry form is available here

I hope lots of you will fancy a trip down to sunny Somerset.

Looking for some chess next weekend? We can promise you a friendly welcome in Somerset.

It sounds like a promising new venture. Hoping to meet a few fellow forumites in sunny Street!

Best wishes,

John Townsend

Hi Matthew,

How many entries do you have in the open section at the moment?

Good afternoon

Currently there are 16 entries in the Open Section.

Peter Turner

Thank you Peter!

Finally got around to sending my entry (I suppose by chess player standards entering the Monday beforehand is actually quite early!)

Is the sunshime guaranteed for next weekend then Matthew?

If there is sunshine I am NOT playing!!!!!

From Peter Turner:-
Evening Ben, yes we have your entry - thanks, currently you are 2nd seed.
Clive, not sure if Matthew has arranged the sunshine but it is probably on his 'to do list'.

Pleased to report 6 more entries and the sun did shine this morning

Can't remember the full results, but from the open:

1st. Patryk Krzyzanowski 4.5/5

2= Stephen Homer 3.5/5
Kevin Thurlow
Ben Edgell
John Townsend

There was something like 65- 70 entries total, I think. And there were a decent number of junior players, which was good to see. And on top of that there was even some sunshine today

Terrific tournament, with many thanks due to the Turner family for organising and running it.
