Details not been finalised, to be honest I hadn't thought that much about it with too much going on otherwise

Understandable. However, with it currently being completely free there doesn't seem to be any reason not to do so. In fact, I don't know why all rapidplay events don't do it.Mick Norris wrote:Details not been finalised, to be honest I hadn't thought that much about it with too much going on otherwise

I don't really see that it makes any difference whether it is FIDE rated or not to be honest, unless you are going to enter the Open section.Alex Holowczak wrote: If people want to play in a FIDE-rated Rapidplay...
I played in the Under 140 section at the Birmingham Rapidplay on 7th Oct 2012. There were only 4 FIDE rated players in the entire section and I didn't happen to play any of them.

So, although I did ok and scored 3.5 from 6 games, I still don't have a FIDE Rapidplay rating, just the ECF one
Please don't think that I am complaining, I enjoyed the tournament, but the "FIDE rated" bit doesn't affect me

You're right, of course.Clive Blackburn wrote:I don't really see that it makes any difference whether it is FIDE rated or not to be honest, unless you are going to enter the Open section.

But we can FIDE rate it at no extra cost, and with no additional membership requirement. So why not rate it?

Re: Manchester Rapidplay Sunday 17 March 2013
Entry form at last!
I should have triple checked this, as the time control is wrongly stated - it is actually 20 mins plus 10 sec per move from move 1
I think the time has come for the MCF to decide which, if any, of my 3 jobs they want me to do - I clearly can't manage all 3

Hi Mick, excellent tournament! playing conditions and venue great, voted my "Rapidplay of the year 2012" just a pity it didn't also apply to my chess that day! : )
