3rd Big Slick International 22nd - 30th June 2013
There will be at least one GM norm all-play-all section and either IM norm rated all-play-alls or possibly a small open alongside.
The venue will be the Big Slick poker club: Unit 10, Royal Oak Centre, Brighton Road, Purley, Surrey CR8 2BG and games will take place approximately between 12:30 and 17:30 before the evening poker starts.
I'll be publishing further details after Christmas but for now I'd like to hear from anyone interested in playing in the event and any feedback on the type of tournament they would favour playing in.
Best wishes,
Lawrence Cooper
Tournament co-organiser.

Potentially interested as player or arbiter. No real feeling for type of event preferred (although an Open would be more interesting from an arbiting point of view).

What's that, other than, I assume, a system invented by Eric Schiller?James Pratt wrote:how about having a .. Schiller?

You have to have genuine teams to have a scheveningen event ie men vs women or country vs country etc as opposed to two line ups of norm seekers as was previously allowedJames Pratt wrote:how about having a Scheveningen or a Schiller?

I can recall Hastings running something along those lines back in the days when the Congress extended to a third week. This event, which I organized, introduced the "Schiller" Pairing system (according to Stewart Reuben). The idea was that 4 teams of 3 players each played each member of the other teams, generating 9 rounds of norm-qualifying play.
FIDE decreed that team events arranged purely for Norm seeking purposes wouldn't be allowed for them. I'm not sure when, but I suspect some years ago.
