Yeah I know Sean, was just saying the price was reasonable in general
The 5p thing doesn’t surprise me - typical chess player combo of obsessiveness + tightness!

We'll see ... I wasn't convinced from the original post that the first quibbler was a chess player ... I know she behaved like one, but we have our own idiosyncratic characters in Stockport

Re: Stockport Rapidplay Sunday 26 January 2014
I thought the point was that the would-be purchasers were not behaving acceptably?
We ran a Spectrum event in a Hilton, where normal coffee prices were £3 for a cup, so we ordered some flasks of coffee, and used a honesty box (yes, I know, I thought it was daft) to try to collect £1 a cup, which would cover the cost and not make a profit for us. Sure enough, despite repeated announcements, we got about 30 % of the cost. So on Sunday, I announced we were not repeating the experiment, as we were losing money. Some people complained. One enterprising player ordered coffee and attempted to charge it to the organisers, but failed.
I hope all this traffic on the Stockport RP will lead to successful tournaments in the future!

I've posted the results
You will see that it was a very strong and well attended event, which may suggest the venue choice was correct

It might That's a genuinely scary looking field!
Looks notably more than even those traditionally (unless I'm misrembering) very strong Bolton rapidplays.
