Post by Adam Raoof » Mon Nov 02, 2015 8:00 pm

DeMontford Bell is pleased to announced that it has agreed to sponsor The DeMontford Bell Kings Place Chess Festival for a further three years.

The festival has become a key date in the UK chess calendar, attracting hundreds of players including many top international masters and grandmasters each year.

Wendy Funes Betancourt, Head of Group Media at DeMontford Bell, said: “We are happy to be in a position to be able to give something back to the community by fostering both British and international chess talent.”

“We are indebted to Adam Raoof of chessengland.com for organising this great event and we look forward to welcoming all participants, hopefully including many new players who will get their very first rating at this tournament.”

Somewhere you could see who is winning would be nice.

Thanks, I hadn't found that ( obviously! ).

Do we know how Peter Sowray came to lose to Jonathan Rowson in the last round when they appeared to be repeating moves?

I didn't pay much attention to that game, especially once I noticed a white knight move from e7 to f5 whilst the black king was on g8

Shreyas Royal, recently silver medallist in the European Schools, has just finished equal second with 5/6 in the U120. Not bad for an under-7, and perhaps a contender for the special prize for the best result by a junior relative to age in any tournament.

The Open in particular appears to have attracted several players who retired from active play some years ago.

This has to be one of the better Junior results, although his rapidplay rating is well behind his standard play one.

Meanwhile in Sussex, Graeme Buckley has a full point lead after three rounds.

Are the games from yesterday still available online? If so, I'm happy to try to fix the score of my game vs. Jonathan.

Fantastic event ... congrats to Adam, Tim and everyone.
