To Mark the 150th Anniversary Year of South Shields Chess Club , the club will be hosting a Rapid Play Congress on the 3rd of July 2016 , and in conjunction with the Northumberland Chess Association , it will also stand as the Northumberland Rapid Play for this year . More details found on

It will follow a format , that was trialled earlier in the season whereby all the entrants will be in one group, it makes for some interesting games .
