Doncaster and Ilkley in the IM Browns as well. It would be a tough but enjoyable league.MartinCarpenter wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 9:11 pmWell, relegation really isn't so bad a fate of course. You get to play some different players/teams, win a lot of games/matches, and then most likely straight back up again.Alan Walton wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 6:45 pmFair enough, albeit that will be an interesting consultation; first question do we have a volunteer for relegationAndrew Zigmond wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 6:38 pmThe YCA rules are nowhere near that prescriptive and merely state that in the event of a dead heat a suitable tie break will be agreed after consultation with the teams concerned. Please can that consultation be allowed to take place.
But the IMB is getting stronger with the juniors coming through so not a total walk over. I'd hate to bet on the outcome of a possible York B vs D!

I don't see how you can fairly agree a tie-break rule after the event when everyone knows who the winner and loser will be. I'd have thought there are only three options:Alan Walton wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 6:45 pmFair enough, albeit that will be an interesting consultation; first question do we have a volunteer for relegationAndrew Zigmond wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 6:38 pmThe YCA rules are nowhere near that prescriptive and merely state that in the event of a dead heat a suitable tie break will be agreed after consultation with the teams concerned. - Ask for a volunteer to lose the tie-break
- Random selection of a winner and loser
- Play-off match

Or someone doesn't want promotion, or the league gets larger or.....
There are advantages to keeping things flexible, despite the headaches resulting.

I am all for flexibility, but these things mentioned are after the fact (team doesn't want promotion, relegate less; league gets larger, relegate less); but you need conditions in place before hand just in case the status quo remains, its always better to plan for the worse, it sometimes happensMartinCarpenter wrote: ↑Tue Apr 23, 2024 7:56 amOr someone doesn't want promotion, or the league gets larger or.....

This happened fairly recently in the Woodhouse cup. 2018/2019 between Rose Forgrove A and Harrogate A.
Looks like Harrogate were at home in the League so played away in a tie breaker and won. I'm sure there would have been restrictions on who can turn out - For example must have played for the team that season.
