Huddersfield & District Chess Association

Post by Stephen Westmoreland » Wed Aug 23, 2023 10:26 pm

The HDCA AGM was held tonight. Roger Keely has stepped down as President with the thanks of the Committee for many (beyond the five year term) years in office and his massive contribution. I was voted in place.

Nigel Hepworth and Alec Ward remain as the Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Tony Gilpin steps in as the Junior Development Officer, a new role to co-ordinate junior teams across the league and into County. The Committee structure was beefed up to support the sudden expansion of clubs and numbers in the area. The future is looking bright.

Look on LMS please.

Watkinsons and David Keddie Cup this side of Christmas. Others after, to give Dewsbury a chance to rebuild and Meltham to train up.

Good luck with things. I hope Roger is enjoying what sounds like his very well earned rest.

Mark. Please cease with the continued updates on your training schedule on this thread. By all means add to one of your own or create a new one somewhere else.

It's not relevant to the thread, Mark, for the reason that what you are writing is more closely related to a Tweet - from the Cambridge dictionary "a message... to let people know what you are doing, thinking, feeling, etc" and a "quick short message".

An internet forum is (from Wikipedia) "an online discussion site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages". Since what you have posted is unlikely to stimulate a resultant conversation really your posts would be better located on Twitter, or a similar platform, rather than here.
