Glorney Gilbert Junior International

Post by Matt Bridgeman » Wed Jul 24, 2019 4:11 pm

Not sure why reporting has been so radio silent at this 70th anniversary event, but the 3 day International finished today. I’d imagine there will be an official report out at some point soon. There was success for the England U14 mixed team winning the Robinson Cup after a dominating performance.

The most exciting finish was the U18 Girls event, where England’s hopes hinged on a board two final round game between France and Netherlands. Thankfully it went the way we wanted and the England Girls won the Gilbert Cup for the first since 2016.

Here's the ECF overview report link; https://www.englishchess.org.uk/Juniors ... -cup-2019/

It's a bit of a shame there wasn't any round by round reporting this year, as it usually makes an excellent entry in the ECF Yearbook.
