Hi everyone,
Entries have been very slow to date. Although I am not directly involved this year, I’d like to support the tournament which has been running for 30 years or so and appeal to you all to get your entries in.
Check out the website above, regularly updated, for all details

Re: The South of England tournament 5/6 October
From the organiser:
Dear all,
It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you we are cancelling the South of England Junior Chess Congress next weekend. Entries are far lower than usual and we don't have anywhere near sufficient numbers to properly organise the age sections or to cover our costs.
Pre-covid we used to have entries of 220+ with a waiting list. Understandably numbers then dropped, but last year we were back to a healthy 170. This year we are currently standing at 66. Even allowing for the inevitable last-minute entries, this is clearly insufficient to run an event meeting everyone's expectations.
I do apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment. I will organise a refund of all entry fees paid, which will be paid directly from Eventbrite to your original payment method.
Kind regards,
Amy
