On the official website, it says Wales England was 1.5-2.5, when it was 2-3, which makes Scotland and England on the same, and Ireland and Wales on the same

Before I had to leave this morning... because as usual this event is in term time....

I thought Wales would have had a 1 point default point on board 4 Stokes cup as James didn't have a player within the default time - what happened ?

It's a mystery. The boy arrived late but Ian maintains that there is not a one minute default time in this tournament and therefore the resut has not been challenged.

To be fair though, it is highly unlikely Peter Purland would let this go if there was indeed a one minute default time so I'm inclined to believe that no rules have been broken.

I await clarification.

The default time is usually published in the material in advance of the event, rather than announced seconds before it starts. I can't see the default time on the website, so I can't check this myself. When invited, what was the announced default time in the pre-event paperwork?

Another joke - Wales getting pre-event information - we think we're lucky if we are told which day to turn up !

I would have guessed 30 minutes, as the games are on a time-scale similar to the British Junior ie. 2 hours each all moves. I wouldn't have been surprised at 0 default time to get them used to all the junior international events.

I that was the intention, they'd have used a time control with a 30-second increment. So that probably rules out a 0-minute default time. It's probably more likely to be 1 hour. It would seem a bit harsh in a British event to have a default time of 0 or 1 minute without telling anyone in advance.

In fact, given they're in a hotel which doesn't have a sudden closing time, and they have the digital clocks to do it, I'm not quite sure why they're not using the 90 + 30' time control for the 4-hour session anyway.

When Peter announced to James that his opponent had one minute, I think it was because it was 9.29am when he was starting the games. At 9.30am, James started the clock. I feel this right as James' opponent would have had no idea that Peter was kicking off slightly early and therefore, he should only be deemed late from 9.30am onwards.

Never easy this game, is it?
