I noted a sensible proposal from Lawrence Cooper that there should be an event, school timetables permitting, which replicated as far as possible the playing rules and conditions likely to be found in a nominally FIDE organised World or European event. I'm not sure how far you would go though. Whilst running over 9 rounds or more and using 90 30 or 40/90 + 30 30 is a given, would you also inflict zero default and a rest day combined with a double round day? On the old Botvinnik principle of training with smoke blown in your face, perhaps you would. The organiser could try to make a nice profit by overcharging hotel accommodation for those accompanying.
