Glorney Gilbert International 2017

The Welsh Chess Union are hosting the Glorney Gilbert International 2017 at the Park Inn Hotel, Circle Way, Cardiff.

There are three playing days: 24, 25 & 26 July, with two rounds a day, at 09.30 & 14.30.

This is a team event that has been running continuously since 1949. It has a long and varied history and is currently run as four competitions:

Glorney Cup Under 18's 5 boards
Robinson Cup Under 14's 6 boards
Gilbert Cup Girls under 18 3 boards
Stokes Cup Under 12's 6 boards

There seems to be issues with the names on the live boards which the organisers are trying to sort out. I think England are playing France in round 1. Some commentary here https://www.twitch.tv/theyellowdragoon

I think they are gradually sorting out the names on the live boards for the Glorney. The English girls are still all playing on two boards in the Gilbert though :shock:

Flybe have covered themselves in glory by cancelling the French flight yesterday forcing them to fly via Birmingham and travel to Cardiff through the night, hence the start time being put back two hours.

Unfortunately Scotland were two players short in the Gilbert so the cross table in the above link is not correct. I think the scores at the top are France 9.5 Ireland 9 Wales 8 England 7.5.
