Well played game, draw against the top seed. 37.g3 acceded to the draw when according to the computer 37.Qc1 was very strong, and it is presumably right, but that still isn't obvious to me even after analysing at leisure. Good result.

Maybe because 37.Qc1 prevents the threatened mate, takes control of the c-file and leaves Black with only the useless check on d3, as White has the impending 38.Re6 to take control of the e-file and/or see the rooks swapped. If Black tries 37...Rb8, then White can play 38.Rg6+ as the tactics now work (and Black has no perpetual either at the end). And Rf8 can be met by Qe1.

In Nishchal Thatte's round 4 game I was hoping that the result was shown incorrectly and in fact a draw was agreed, but apparently not. Pity, it was a very good effort.

Not all results in yet for round 5, but Nishchal Thatte leading the way on 4/5. Koby Kalavannan on 3.5/5 and still undefeated (he went the last 8 rounds of the British without losing, so if this is the next FIDE-rated event he played next after that tournament, he is on a run of 13 games undefeated so far).

Excellent round 7 game by Akshaya. Her opponent was ok for so long as she kept finding the best moves but the moment she didn't, lights out.

Yes, the Austrian who had hitherto been leading the Under 14s on 5.5/6: http://chess-results.com/tnr367949.aspx ... ES&flag=30

Details are not yet in the public domain other than that the player was disqualified, and that the incident involved a mobile phone in a toilet. There has been a comment online that a statement will be published soon with more details.

"Has someone has been disqualified for cheating using a mobile phone? "

I do hope nobody will start whining that he should be let off as he's a junior.

Using Google Translate:
Unfortunately, it came yesterday in the context of the U14 competition at the European Championships to an unpleasant incident. As part of a check was found in the Turniernbenräumen a cell phone, which was assigned to Marc Morgunov. His game (draw) was scored with a loss, a draw for today is not done for him. After consultation with national youth coach Siegi Baumegger Marc was completely removed from the ÖSB from the tournament. The ÖSB does not tolerate fraud in sport, we will in any case after the return of the team interview, make an investigation of the incident and derive from it any disciplinary action, but in the aspect that it is a 13-year-old teenager.
