Live Games

Post by Nigel Wright » Mon Sep 17, 2007 1:30 pm

When talking about live games, does it have to be live video feed or can it just be updated moves refreshing every two minutes etc. like the bbc sport website.

thanks
To Drink or not to Drink, that is the question.

I Drink therefore I am.

I'm not as think as you drunk I am.

Sorry you have lost me a little bit, what is the question?

The ECF live games via the broadcast boards are just an update to a web site - you need to clarify the video feed bit?

Sorry, I was in a bit of a rush when I wrote the last post.

I mean that when a live game is referred to, does it mean that the live game is video feed, or does it mean that it could be just plain notations being uploaded every time a move is made?

With the ECF it uses the DGT sensory boards so its the second option

Nigel

If you're looking for a way to do a live game feed, take a look at Palview/Palive:

http://www.enpassant.dk/chess/palview/index.htm

Never tried it myself, but I have seen sites that use it. There's a demo at the site linked.

Thanks Ian

I might try and use it for an upcoming Junior Tournament (ie National Schools) or something as a practice, and then perhaps it could be incorported into the Notts County Championship or Congress if successful (top boards of each section only though).

I'd be happy to do the uploading myself if necessary because I'm trying to get experience to become an Arbiter so I'd probably not be playing at the same time anyway.
