IPv6

Post by Carl Hibbard » Fri Jan 14, 2011 10:35 pm

Is anyone apart from ME using IPv6 and interested in getting this forum onto that type of connection?

You may need to explain what IPv6 is...

Will the average forumite notice any real difference? I know what it is, but I don't know whether it makes it slower/faster, or whether it's the sort of thing no one would have noticed if you'd done it and hadn't mentioned it.

Basically put http://255*255*255*255 is running out of space.

Yeah, I was aware of that, but I reckon most people wouldn't care whether it was IPv4 or IPv6 as long as they still had to type in the same domain name, and it wasn't slow.

Well I'm sort of aware, you know what you are talking about Alex, but I'm more interested in what Carl has to say.

Alex is correct, it will make little or no difference to members and is only valid for the sad type techie person like myself at this time
