PGN and POS

Post by Carl Hibbard » Wed Nov 01, 2017 6:58 am

It appears "we" should have always added games like this:

{pgn}
[Date "2016.04.15"]
[White "7.5"]
[Black "?"]
[Result "*"]
[SetUp "1"]
[FEN "b1n5/kP2K3/1R6/2P3n1/q7/8/8/3r1r2 w - - 0 1"]
[EventDate "2016.??.??"]
{/pgn}

{pos}
b1n5/kP2K3/1R6/2P3n1/q7/8/8/3r1r2 w - - 0 1
{/pos}

In better news looks like Paolo has ridden to the rescue yet again and all is working.

Please point out any diagram issues however though.

Everything should be back to normal with posting games and positions.

As a reminder, in order to post a game you should use the pgn tag with the full game score. For example:

Code: Select all

[pgn]

[Event "London league"]
[Site "London ENG"]
[Date "2017.10.23"]
[Round "?"]
[White "Casaschi, Paolo"]
[Black "My opponent"]
[Result "1-0"]

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 e6 3. c3 Nc6 4. d4 d5 5. e5 c4 6. g3 Nge7 7. h4 h5 8. Be2
Nf5 9. Ng5 g6 10. O-O Be7 11. Bf3 Bd7 12. Bf4 Qa5 13. Qe2 b5 14. Bxd5
Bxg5 15. Bxc6 Bxc6 16. Bxg5 Qa4 17. Bf6 Rg8 18. Kh2 Bb7 19. Na3 Qa6 20. Nc2
Qc6 21. f3 Qd5 22. Rad1 a5 23. a3 Bc6 24. Ra1 Rb8 25. Bg5 Rh8 26. Ne3
Nxe3 27. Qxe3 Kd7 28. Qf4 Rh7 29. Rf2 Ke8 30. Rd1 Rb7 31. Re1 Qd7 32. Kg2
Rb8 33. Rd2 Bd5 34. Qf6 Qb7 35. Ra1 Qd7 36. Kf2 Rb7 37. Ke3 Rb8 38. Rh2 Rb7
39. g4 Qc8 40. gxh5 gxh5 41. Rg1 1-0

[/pgn]
that would result in this game:

Multiple games are allowed.

For posting a position with no moves, you can use the pos tag with the fen position string. For example:

Code: Select all

[pos]1r6/p1kb1p1p/3p2p1/PP4P1/1R6/4P1KP/5PB1/8 w - - 3 37[/pos]
That would show (White to move):

Note, only one position allowed without moves.

In order to post a game fragment with moves, you need to go back to the pgn tag like this:

Code: Select all

[pgn]

[SetUp "1"]
[FEN "1r6/p1kb1p1p/3p2p1/PP4P1/1R6/4P1KP/5PB1/8 w - - 3 37"]
37. b6 ab6 38. a6

[/pgn]
that would result in this game fragment:

A tip for creating pgn and pos data in a manner that's easily copied and pasted is to use lichess.

https://lichess.org/analysis

https://lichess.org/editor

In the analysis board, you just key in the moves and the pgn appears along with the FEN for the current position.
