CJ's name did not come up at all in the debate.I didn't want to speculate, but my assumption was perceived support of CJ by Adam was the key issue. Was that the case?

The meeting can be accused of consistency. It rejected the Roger Edwards review of membership and then if anyone knew anything of AR's proposals, they appeared also to be moves towards a more expensive single class of membership.Paul Cooksey wrote:Then I am surprised. I had assumed it was Alex McFarlane who had opposed his election.
You would have to have read this forum to know anything of what might have been proposed.

Roger was elected, though, I assume - let's see how he does

Surprised about that, albeit a year too late to be voting against the marketing candidateJohn Philpott wrote:Significant breaking news - Adam Raoof loses to "not this candidate" for Director of Membership and Marketing on a show of hands. The lack of an election statement in the context of a meeting that he was not attending did Adam no favours. Another vacant Directorship on top of (so far) Chief Executive and International that the newly elected Board will need to fill.
Will be very interesting to see who the new board can get to fill the 3 posts

Not in respect of Adam - the show of hands was clear and nobody called for a card vote. The only card votes in respect of the elections were in respect of Roger Edwards v Not this candidate and Rupert Jones v Nigel Short. I will post these results as soon as the Chairman has informed the meeting.I've been asked to ask if there was a card vote?

seems to me the ECF is on the brink of extinction unless someone gets elected soon.

The results that you have all been waiting for.
President - Roger Edwards 111 Not this candidate 101
FIDE Delegate - Nigel Short 148 Rupert Jones 55
All other unopposed candidates bar Adam were elected.
The meeting has predictably been extended to 6.30.

Of course, I have known Roger for more years than I care to recall and whilst he is a good guy I am not sure in the president roleErnie Lazenby wrote:Better than another vacant position Carl.
