I would say yang fan is a strong favourite- felix came onto the scene with a bang but has not played much high level stuff for a few years, plus his surname is impossible to pronounce so another reason I would be against him.

No quite the "bang" as you may have thought - soon after he arrived in England in 2007 he played in the Under-125 at Kidlington with an estimated grade of 50 (yer right!) and managed a draw with yours truly then graded a massive 109. That's a game I would like to see!!

Why not post it here now, and then we can see your IM scalp draw.

I remember finding one of those old chess yearbooks in a bin somewhere back when yang fan was at primary school, and his game that was published there had a really nice tactical finish. I wish I had kept it now, but I suspect the book returned to whence it was found after I was done.

Felix played the 11 round continental championship in Bolivia which finished yesterday. He scored 7.5/11 for a 2500+ performance.

I have a nice picture of Yang -Fan when he was 8 with the Richmond Junior team after we won the Under 18 team section.I was lucky to have meet him when he first joined Richmond Juniors and got to play a few friendly games with him where he crushed me.
The ECF should sponsor this match game. yang fan v Felix
Felix is very attacking it be a great match.

I was hoping that I might have both playing at Big Slick this year but it's now looking unlikely that Felix will be there

Matches zthat would be valuable for English chessplayers
Yang Fang Zhou
Jonathan Hawkins
Stephen Gordon
They are very valuable. The problem is that they are not cost effective.Perhaps the last two are close enough in strength to play each other a match. Jonathan of course wants to concentrate on getting his last GM norm. He needs one with enough foreigners. I told him I thought he should play in the European Individual.

The ECF should put up some money for a match with Yang Fang V Felix a lot of people would want to see it.

How much of your own money would you be willing to pay to see it?

I would pay nothing, and I wouldn't want the ECF to pay anything either
