Yang-Fan beat Roger in round 1 - pity they were drawn to play each other

My sixth move was a finger slip whilst thinking ahead to the positions that arise after the normal 6 .. Qe7. After that I'm always a bit worse and the middle game consists mostly of Black having to spot and prevent various mates in 3 or 4. At the end, I had finally missed one. 25. .. Ng4 looks possible, but there's a hidden mate after that as well.

I've done precisely the same finger slip in an evening league game before!

I've given up playing this variation since then though...

Yang-Fan Zhou lost to a 2100 in round 2, and today David Howell lost in a superior position, presumably on time, at move 35.

The star is Sabrina Chevannes who followed up her draw with an IM in round 1 by today drawing with GM Erik van der Doel, rating 2582. She has an unbeaten 2/3 so is already well placed for her second WIM norm.

Can any of you clever people tell me how many Sabrina will need for her norm, given performance to date and the likelihood of some high ratings in the next few rounds even if she loses. And I see she has played a GM and two IMs - is an IM norm possible?

I don't fit into the clever category but at the moment she has a performance of 2452 against an average of just under 2313. The various rating performances needed are WIM norm = 2250, WGM 2400, IM 2450, GM 2600. It's a bit early to quote a required score as her average could still change drastically.

Other relevant points are that she needs to play at least 5 titled players, no more than 66% (6 out of 9) from any one country and at least 2 nationalities other than her own. She seems well placed with this, she will have played 4 titled players (Wantalo is an FM) after round six and so one more will suffice, hopefully she will play at least three players (needs one more) who aren't Dutch.

There's a long way to go but it's fair to say she is well placed.
