• Chief Executive (vacant)
• Non-Executive Chairman (Mike Gunn, not standing for re-election + see below)
• Finance Director (Chris Mattos, standing for re-election)
• Director of Home Chess (Alex Holowczak, standing for re-election)
• Director of International Chess (David Openshaw, standing for re-election)
• Director of Junior Chess (Phil Ehr, standing for re-election)
• Director of Membership and Marketing (David Thomas, standing for re-election)
• Non-Executive Director (Jack Rudd, standing for re-election)

It's good that most directors seem to be standing for re-election after the carnage of last year. This will bring much needed stability to the ECF. I was among those who was very critical of some members of the previous board - I think on the whole the current board have done an excellent job.

It will be a shame to see Sean Hewitt go, unless he's standing down to seek the Chief Executive position.

EDIT - early comment qualified.

The "see below" comment is that the current Board are proposing to abolish the post of Chairman and replace it with a new post of "Commercial Director". Details of the reasoning behind the change and the proposed incumbent(s), who will initially be appointed, rather than elected, have yet to be made public.

Are there likely to be other candidates for President? Stuart Conquest was mentioned last year

There was a strong lobby last year, in votes anyway, in favour of "none of the above" for President.

We've had the best part of a year without a Chief Executive. What has the impact been?

We've had an acting CE but as he is standing down from his other post I suspect that he won't be continuing.

It is known that somebody did seek the CE position but was rejected by the board. What is not known is who that individual was or why they were rejected.

Is it not the case that the Board rejected two applications?

On the impact of not having had a CEO: I guess this was felt mostly by Board who were one short in number and in particular by Mike Gunn who stood in as acting CEO.

There's gossip to that effect. One of the names was featured in a redacted copy of the minutes, the other has yet to surface. You would think that for a position subject to annual election, that a candidate for the post would try to make their name known to the voting membership, ECF Council in other words.

The hot topic this time last year was Roger Edwards' candidacy, particularly after the incumbent President withdrew his nomination. At that time a lot of people whose opinions should be respected declared him unsuitable for the role - it would be interesting to find out whether they still hold that view.

Afternoon all.

I like to see Malcolm Pein stand as a candidate to become President of the ECF.

Any way time for a nice cup of tea.
