IM David Eggleston
Congratulations to David Eggleston who, with a first round win in Germany, has now passed the 2400 rating barrier. Given that he has more IM norms that anyone in history and his title has already been approved subject to rating, the award of the title is now a formality.

And just to be sure, he beat GM Delchev (2643) yesterday.

yes congradulations to David but I doubt very much that he has anywhere as many IM title norms as Chris Duncan

cheers Lawrence although I'm pretty sure Chris has several more than the 3 listed.... I thought he told me he had 5 when I spoke to him many years ago... has anyone contacted Chris to check? I could of course be mistaken.

I did check with him prior to submitting his IM title application (subject to him reaching 2400) which FIDE subsequently rejected as one of the norms was a performance norm only (below 2450 with his own rating included) despite it being signed off by the relevant tournament arbiter and cleared by FIDE prior to the applicationMartin Crichton wrote:cheers Lawrence although I'm pretty sure Chris has several more than the 3 listed.... John Richardson does have quite a collection of norms though so maybe it was him you spoke to.

Re: IM David Eggleston
With one round to go David has 6/8 at Bad Wiessee. He has met and scored 2/2 against four GMs in the tournament. and beaten everybody else so far.
Adam Hunt is also 0n 6/8. A good show for the English players who lie 17th= in a tournament with just the one section of 476 players!

Sadly Adam's round 9 opponent is rated too low (and untitled) for him to be able to get a GM norm with a winPaul Bielby wrote:

Ack. That's agonising. Does he have the rating requirement already, or does he need that in addition to the norm?LawrenceCooper wrote:Sadly Adam's round 9 opponent is rated too low (and untitled) for him to be able to get a GM norm with a winPaul Bielby wrote:
