I got "75 % somewhere about Hull".

So the test appears completely accurate as Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire is my place of birth, although I did escape fairly soon after that.

Enjoyed this weekend as always at Redworth and meeting old and new friends

The George and Dragon at Heightington village was good, not the best walk there in the dark especially when we didn't know where we were going, and one of the team was still playing - food was good, and we had 2 tables of 6 next to each other, so good atmosphere too

We successfully divided the bill by 12, everyone produced the right amount of cash and a reasonable tip, but when I went to pay they revised the bill upwards by £27 thus obliterating their tip

Preparation for the January weekend at Shrigley has started, and we already have 2 recommended restaurants on the list

Sounds a good meal It did all seem to work well - Atticus got a pair of solid wins despite the rather hostile draw, most of the second/third teams mantained an entirely viable strength, etc.

In accordance with Jorvik's dedicated rotation policy - 10 players in 2 matches - I'll likely be doing one of the next two weekends. Not sure which.

Bradford C - Jorvik could have been very close. We managed the rather impressive feat of drawing one board which started 1. Nf3 f5 2. e4 fxe4 3. Ng5 Nf6 4. d3 exd3 5. Bxd3 e5 6. Nxh7 Qe7 7. Bg6+ Kd8 ...... Don't think we were ever in real danger of upsetting NE1.

I didn't ask about the Yorwick on our team name tag in case it was the way it 'should' be spelt

Oh, is there a genuinely good reason the score sheets don't have a dashed line or some such between the white and black moves? I went wrong both times at the start of the second column. (Luckily neither game made it to the third.).

It's theory in the sense of having being played before to move 10. Engines rate 10. Nc3 as almost plus 3, the point seeming to be that Black has to give the Queen for two pieces by taking on f7


The 4NCL score sheets are of rather an unusual design, with no separator between the white column and the black column. It used to be a feature that members of the BCF's Junior squad were trained to zigzag their moves. Anyone still doing that might find the lack of a central line a minor problem.

While not trying to defend the lack of a separating line - I think there should be one - I am still amazed that people make this mistake.

Is that what it is? Looks like a reverse From Gambit to me, interesting game given Martina plays f4 as white
