Is anyone else having trouble getting results for the Christmas and New Year tournaments ? Maybe it is my computer playing up.

They're showing on mine without any problem - and it was one of those having difficulties with the Master's at the start!!!

The other one I can't understand is Bob Eames' game. Still in well known theory and if the clocks are right his opponent is down to 5 minutes plus increments

Looking at his past games, Vakhidov has preferred the calmer positions of Exchange variations. Perhaps he just didn't know the crazy positions of that Main Line as well as he thought. So he's got to survive on the increment and Eames' time to move 40. The novelty appears to have been 15. Nc3, the only previous game featured 15. Kf1

The server hosting the games is struggling a little at 4Mbps so I have increased the connection tracking limit which should resolve the issue for now.
Cheers

Good
it's my fault anyway as the default limit is a little low.
Cheers

Super fighting end-game by Jonathan Hawkins today, from a slightly worse middle-game (maybe).

Sorry Stewart, but that is just a stupid thing to say and seems rather strange considering I like your common sense approach to some of the things occurring in the "Laws of Chess" thread! It is not necessary to say that "titled players cannot"... take byes", as it is implied. If you are not an untitled player you must therefore be a titled player. There are only two options available.

As much as I hate being pedantic, I would have to say that any rules have to be explicit
If you put "only" infront of the rule then I it would be ok, otherwise legally I would say it would be challenged
For one under the rule quoted, me being a CM (rated below 2100), would I be eligible for byes as theoretically I am titled in FIDE eyes, the rule doesn't clarify that

Not to put a jinx on it, but if Hawkins does well in the final three rounds, does he have a chance at that final GM norm?
http://www.hastingschess.com/2014/SMWSite/index.html
He needs one more GM after round 7 (where he is playing his second GM), which shouldn't be too difficult (providing he wins or draws). The requirement for federations of his opponents (2 non-ENG, maximum 5 ENG, maximum 6 from one federation) look to be easily met. Achieving a 2600 TPR might be more difficult. Current TPR is 2540.
