Sunday Times 26 January. Page 6.

A very substantial article on the FIDE Presidential election and also Andrew Paulson's involvement with Kirsan.

Sorry Stewart, I'm spectularly uneducated, in not understanding what a 'non sequitur' is, perhaps it is something to do with money?

Chambers definition
non sequitur noun (abbreviation non seq.) 1 an illogical step in an argument. 2 logic a conclusion that does not follow from the premises.
ETYMOLOGY: 16c: Latin, literally 'it does not follow'.

Peter T, I am not spectacularly well-educated. But there are aids these days.
Your comment was a form of 'knight move thinking'.

I'm not sure he'll appreciate the comparison with Justin Bieber.

I think I heard Larry Page rang Demis up a couple of years ago wanting to his company, but Demis turned him down. Obviously this time the price was right.

In the world's longest running soap opera (The Archers, BBC Radio 4) last week a character who is as old as the soap, Tony Archer (62) relived the trauma of receiving a chess set as a Christmas present (instead of the desired model racing car) when he was 10 years old. "I didn't want to play chess!" blubbed the pathetic Tony.

Today's Metro has a mention of chess in the cartoon strip 'Nemi'.

I'm a year older than Tony Archer, and also received a chess set as a Christmas present when I was 10 years old. I didn't know that I wanted to play chess!

I thought the world's longest-running soap opera involved chess federations in the North-West.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

This probably explains why the actor who has played Tony Archer for the last 40 years has suddenly been replaced - after all what credence is there to a soap that killed off a major character called Mark Hebden?
