The pgn is incorrect, 62. Qb6 should be 62. Qd6.Geoff Chandler wrote:Just posted lastest Corner.

Have had a response already about Shaw/White game.
A few cannot believe that White missed the Queens off move going into a clear won ending.
Shaw - White round 6. Black's 62nd. move.
Can anyone at Torquay verify the PGn is correct?
Thanks to a few of the lads on here for giving me games and ideas for
latest Corner.
(thought I had posted all this already but it has gone ).

Re: British Championship Thread
Well it's Gary Lane who I suppose will have to way up the likelihood of beating somebody 250 points his superior with Black, the effort it would take and the likely reward even if he managed to do it (I'm guessing a share of 4th and maybe £500 at best).Ian Lamb wrote:it could be put all 3 ims and there not really going to want to be him with black i think they take a draw if its offered.
Next few boards could get a little tasty with a lot of prize money to be won and lost.

its gary lane he playing at staunton saturday howell just cant see him playing to win even if it cost him some rating points with draw and he 2 points above him as well so i think he offer the draw.jones v hebden should be a good game if if they play last round you never know there could be a lot of fast draws with big prize money at stake after 10round slog.

Cheers for clearing that up Peter, I smelt something fishy and blamed Time trouble.
I can only go by what the PGN says and after a few of the moves I've seen this week
I'll believe anything.
Have corrected the latest Corner.

Glad a few posters cleared up the Fried Liver post.
4.Ng5 is Tarrasch 'Duffer's Variation' and the Fried Liver is a branch of that.

What tosh! Tosh, we say!
Many a wierd and wonderful opening may have its day in the British Championship, but the Fried Liver is not one of them: for it has been known since the earliest days of Chess with the Raging Queen that 5... Nxd5 is carp and fishy, being refuted both by the Fegatello and the Lolli Gambit (much seen at junior tournaments).

Fried Liver
I apologise for agreeing with Ben and being led astray. My knowledge of 1. e4 e5 openings is patchy and stems from my murky junior past when I played the Kings Gambit in the middle 1970s. Despite that error I would have liked to have seen a Traxler between two GMs. We are getting to see all sorts of stuff not normally seen in 2700+ chess.

Changing the batteries on your keyboard has evidently not helped : maybe the wireless signal is not strong enough?
