Topalov drew, and Yangyi Yu won. So this means that he gets all the maximum gold medals possible for him. That is a remarkable achievement. Has this happened before?

Looking at the Chinese results, out of 44 games, there has only been one loss.

Using pen and paper and having part-checked the results with a calculator, my unreliable S-B scores put Hungary second and India third.

England Women have been par for the course according to their ranking. Finished 40th being the 39th seed.

Wow, you were right Justin, India got 3rd above Russia!

And rather remarkably, they were only half a point behind Hungary on the second tie-break from winning silver!

Good news for England in terms of individual boards - Adams has got the silver medal! David Howell and Matthew Sadler have just missed out on bronze.

I was only part-right though, as I had a different total for Hungary than the correct one.

So a Silver medal for Mickey. Matthew and David narowly miss-out.

As far as the team score goes, I'm sure the 'in a swiss your overall position depends a lot on the final round' argument will be wheeled-out.

Right, this is killing me. I cannot work out how Hungary's tiebreak score of 372.0 has been arrived at. I've tried this more than a dozen times now and can't get to that figure.

I get this. Can any kind person tell me what I have missed or got wrong?

Algeria. 4. 9. Neglected as lowest-scoring opponent.
Venezuela. 2.5. 13. 32.5. 32.5.
China. 1.5. 19. 28.5. 61.
Portugal. 3.5. 13. 45.5. 106.5.
Spain. 2.5. 16. 40. 146.5.
Vietnam. 3. 14. 42. 188.5.
Armenia. 2. 16. 32. 220.5.
USA. 2. 15. 30. 250.5.
Israel. 3. 16. 48. 298.5
Romania. 3. 15. 45. 343.5.
Ukraine. 2. 16. 32. 375.5.

Hearing news that Batumi (Georgia) have secured the next Olympiad.

Also hearing sad news that a Seychelles player has had a heart attack and collapsed and has passed away. I really hope this isn't true but I've seen three reports from the venue so fear it is.

Update: oh dear it is true, Kurt Meier, Seychelles Board 2 who were playing Rwanda today. Very sad.

Other than the name, it has been confirmed here in the news. They have not released a name yet

Rupert Jones (Papua New Guinea) reported "Rest in peace Kurt Meier, playing board 2, despite emergency services and the on site medics did all they could, died after cardiac arrest at around 1530 @the board playing for the Seychelles against Rwanda. His son was also playing & wife was present. We played against Kurt in Dresden 2008. Very sad!"

No. I agree your figures. I checked a couple of other teams and couldn't get them to agree either. I did manage to agree one figure in the Women's tournament.

I agreed with the tiebreak scores of the other three teams on 17 points though.
