It has to be said that the current crop of UK chess kids are very average indeed...nothing special..quite a large representation in the world underage competitions and no performances standing out..a couple of reasonable performances but on the whole I'd say none of the current crop look like they are going to rise up and get noticed anytime soon.
Bit of a reality check for the media here who predicted at least one of the current participants above was going to be the next Luke McShane.

Which results are you looking at? The English contingent are doing rather well. Amy Hoare is gaining seventy points and is on board 2!

These results here below Matthew....nothing special at all
Amy is doing reasonably well but gaining 72 points might end up gaining less at the tournament end and its a k factor of 40 now which means she has performed 1.75 points above her expected score at this stage in the competition and she is playing a 2300+ player who is on 6.5 points (big upfloat) so I can't see a 1700 player getting a result against a 2300 player (thats a big ask but as Ben Purton showed last week not impossible) she is likely to be on board 6-8 in the next round but if she wins ? watch this space
