I was once given a scoresheet at a congress, one of the two part type with carbon in between, where the moves of a game Nunn-Hebden could clearly be seen on the re-used carbon. If I remember it was some sort of two-knights defence, and ended 0-1, but I doubt that game was ever published. No doubt they must have played many many times over the years.

Well, a neat study-like finish to the ending of Nunn-Hebden, starting with 55. Rxg5. So perhaps the Doctor is rolling back the years. Or showing the value of writing those endgame books...

I was wondering about putting together a Bermuda team, but have checked the regulations and see that all games start at 9.30am. I don't even need to ask how they feel about that!

You will have to wait until 2017 and bid for it to be held in Bermuda. Dresden again have the rights in 2016.

Let's hope so. I'm with the Bermudians on the anti-social starting time.

I've contacted the organisers, and apparently 9.30 is itself a compromise. German seniors like to start at 9!

edit : probably they've done a run around the park first.

edit again : we're just simple chess players - game, post-mortem, dinner, bar, bed, breakfast, preparation, lunch, repeat cycle. Does that make us bad people?

For the last three British Championship player questionnaires, we have had as many Seniors congratulating us on moving their session to the afternoon as we do complaining about how awful it is that we moved it to the afternoon, and that we should move it back.

Interesting openings on the top two bds in rd 5, offering the prospect of some tactical fun. Nunn-Christiansen is a Scheveningen Sicilian where Nunn has already played g4 on move 6, while Hebden has the white side of one of his patented Barry Attack-type things against Kalegin.
