Additional revelations on the ECF website

It appears the "suspended" director is subbing for the FIDE Delegate in Abu Dubai.

He is certainly making contributions to meetings that are useful and appreciated. I don't think anyone here much cares about the capacity in which he is doing that.Roger de Coverly wrote:

On balance I think a suspension of 2 weeks was about right.NickFaulks wrote:He is certainly making contributions to meetings that are useful and appreciated. I don't think anyone here much cares about the capacity in which he is doing that.Roger de Coverly wrote:

I see Alex H attended the "systems of pairings and programs" commission. I hope he quoted some of my statistics on pairings from the other thread.

Just spotted that the message has been updated. It now reads:LawrenceCooper wrote:http://www.englishchess.org.uk/temporar ... from-duty/
So Bob is also appealing the decision...ECF website news item wrote:Update
Director of Home Chess Alex Holowczak was given a two week suspension from duty from 25 August to 8 September 2015 following a complaint by Commercial Director Bob Kane made in accordance with the ECF Complaints Procedure. The investigation found that Mr Holowczak breached the Standards of Conduct for ECF Officials, specifically Regulation 4 paragraphs 2.1, 2.6 and 3.3.1. As of 8 September both Mr Holowczak and Mr Kane are appealing. The Board will consider the appeals on 18 September. The outcome will be published.
And, apparently contra to the Complaints Procedure, it's the Board, not a Non-executive Director, which (who) will hear the appeals.

It's being heard by the whole Board now! Is it possible for this to get any worse?

Somewhat ironic that Alex gets to appeal against his suspension two weeks after serving itAngus French wrote:Just spotted that the message has been updated. It now reads:LawrenceCooper wrote:http://www.englishchess.org.uk/temporar ... from-duty/

Ironic, but brilliant
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Re: Standards of Conduct for ECF Officials
Bob Kane is appealing?
Has he been sanctioned too?
Who (ie which individual) made the original decision to apply a suspension?
Who (ie which individual) heard the appeal?
Is it right that one Non Executive Director makes a Public Announcement regarding his (unspecified) part in the process in his election address before the result of the Appeal was made Public?
Governance?
Does anyone know the meaning of the word?

Appealing against the laxity of the penalty perhaps? Presumably he wants Alex dismissed.Michael Flatt wrote:Bob Kane is appealing?

Angus, is it wise to assume publication before Christmas ?Angus French wrote:Just spotted that the message has been updated. It now reads:LawrenceCooper wrote:http://www.englishchess.org.uk/temporar ... from-duty/

I'd hope for soon after 18 September and well in advance of the AGM on 17 October.IanCalvert wrote:Angus, is it wise to assume publication before Christmas ?Angus French wrote:Just spotted that the message has been updated. Re: Standards of Conduct for ECF Officials
Interestingly Mike Truran is questioning if the complaint should ever have been accepted in the first place.

So far, and despite repeated requests, with a complete lack of success.
I'm not holding my breath.
