As a matter of interest, can anyone tell me how you pronounce the name of the England women's player Dagne CIUKSYTE ?

I think it's something like Chook-SEE-ta, but don't quote me on that.

Thanks for that - maybe the lady herself will tell us sometime. The name Zivile SARAKAUSKIENA does not roll easily off an English tongue, does it? I have just discovered by Googling in German that she is the sister of Dagne C.

Jack's suggestion looks sensible, but then how do we pronounce Dagne? Dahn-ye maybe, presumably not Dagg-nee?

Chook-shee-teh, I believe. That's what a Lithuanian friend told me, anyway.

Is there anywhere a general guide to the pronunciation of prominent names in the chess world?
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Yes. If you google "chess names pronunciation", you may find that helpful.
