I've spent some time bringing the BCM calendar up to date over the past few days...
http://www.bcmchess.co.uk/news/events.htm
I've tracked down the details of a few tournaments which don't (yet) appear on the ECF Calendar so it might be worth checking if you are a player and looking round for more tournament options.
Can I remind tournament organisers to email the details of their forthcoming events to me directly, please? Some do already (many thanks to them) but by no means all. If I don't receive notification directly, it means I have to spend time hunting down the details on various websites where it is easy for me to overlook things (or replicate other webmasters' typos).
My email for calendar details is cal (at) bcmchess.co.uk (any other email which you have for me will work just as well - putting the word 'chess' in the subject line should save the email from disappearing into my spam filter). Sending me tournament details directly and well in advance gives you a better chance of getting your tournament flagged up on BBC Ceefax (it also gives you a chance to proof-read the online calendar entry before it gets carried forward to the Ceefax page) - and, of course, in the magazine. Thanks in advance...

Re: BCM Calendar
Thanks for updating the calendar, it does have more congresses than the ecf calendar. Very useful.

Re: BCM Calendar
Just a quick question - it's a great list but....
Are you able to make it more printer friendly?

Re: BCM Calendar
That's a fair question. Thinking about it, I would have to redesign completely to make it print-friendly. For one thing, I don't show email and web addresses "in clear" (I hide the email address details to give them extra security against spammers). It would mean quite a lot of work. So I think I shall have to say 'no'. Personally, I can't remember the last time I printed a web page but I can see it might be useful in this case. Whenever I have done it, I have usually done a crude cut and paste job, putting the textual content I want to print into a Word file and printing that. I guess you could do that with the calendar - but it wouldn't show the email/web links, of course.JamesMurphy wrote:Just a quick question - it's a great list but....
