I'm not absolutely sure - surely Karjakin must at least have *something* in mind?

I can't believe he spent all his preparation time honing his ability to grovel :)

I think it's possible to break the Carlsen ego the further this equality goes.

or nil nil at half time to return to the football analogy. normally 60 minutes when the fans of the dominant side get nervous

I was wondering whether, to extend Richard's analogy, Karjakin might be playing for a "game of two halves".

Though a fairly effortless draw with Black probably won't disappoint the defending champion after his scare yesterday.

If this were a football match the commentators would be likening it to a game of chess.

I agree.

I also feel that for his mix of concrete analysis and game specific chess wisdom, for ECF 150 -200, Peter is probably now the best chess commentator in the English speaking world. Other candidates?

I heard an excellent explanation for this. Peter's years of listening to cricket have given him a perfect appreciation for what to do in commentary when nothing is really happening. I think there might be something to be said for that.

Karjakin seemingly sticking with the plan of playing very slightly worse positions with white ;)
