Germany's chess village

Post by Gordon Morse » Sun Jan 08, 2017 10:05 am

Yesterday's "Guardian" featured an article about Germany's 'chess village'. It's rather an odd story:

I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all.

"Other customs demanded that anyone who wanted to marry a woman born in the village had to first challenge the mayor to a game"

An idea for the next Queen's Speech.

"but let the groom off for a €70 donation to the chess club."

Is it coincidence that this is the fee for an FM title?
