As some of you surely no I am interested in asian cultures. I can play Thai culture I have read Kramnik as saying "It is more strategic than international chess. You have to plan your operations with total care since Makruk Thai can be compared to an anticipated endgame of International Chess" when speaking about Makruk.
it is even quoted on chessbase

However I have never seen it footnoted - can anyone give me a reference?
