That could be blamed on those reporting the results for failing to use the correct grading codes. They aren't optional extras.
Agreed. That was the likely reason for a Stafford player's results mix-up that was spotted soon after the list was published.

I trust you have reported these in time for the revised list.
Think it is being dealt with by a club mandorin.

Agreed also. Though I wonder: shouldn't there be a central system process which checks the outliers (possibly I'm asking too much - not sure)?

If it's the player I think it is, that wouldn't work as he has an 'F' category grade and those aren't used in grade calculations.

It relies on detailing the results and expecting those involved to review and flag up any anomalies. A grade of, say, F165 isn't an obvious outlier unless you know the perceived strength of the player. I'd rather suspect that those reviewing the results take a look at "top 100" lists for outcomes that look anomalous.

It depends what you define as an outlier. Possibly F165 against the previous F117 would arouse suspicion, a little more so if still earlier grades are taken into account.

It is though none of these games happened for him:

16/01/2017 0 118406E Sagall, Roy 200C
30/01/2017 1 144163C Spearman, David 196A

These games have been credited to a player with a grading code of 278359K

If this is wrong it's the fault of the system used to manage the North Circular League in failing to identify players correctly.

luckily he is a chuggle. a chess player that doesn't play online, tournaments, county games, just the odd club match and comes down the club regularly. Tricky if he wanted to enter say U120 section with that grade at the moment.

I'm confused. Are you saying that he is the player who won against David Spearman or not?

Nope he never played any of those people. In fact I think he hardly played at all and he is U100 strength. Bob Eames beat Dave Spearman that day on board 1.

I understand that there have been a number of errors in the NCCL results submission, not helped by nothing being input from this league for the January 2017 grades release. In my own case, I've only spotted one incorrect result (against the right opponent). I've notified the league's grader - I await the August revision to see if it has been rectified.

Sounds like you need some form of league management software with automatic feeding of results into the grading system ;-)
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

Though it will still be necessary for players to be correctly identified!

Except of course, on LMS, we'll be requiring everyone to put the check letter in first before the numbers, rather than the way you're all used to, and I'll be aggressively batting away any comments suggesting that we might want to do it differently.

Possibly. It could also be the fault of the grader. A few years ago I had some of my games incorrectly attributed to someone else in the January list in another league, despite the league having my correct name and grading code shown on its website. This was corrected by Richard Haddrell when I told him. Richard Haddrell told the grader about the error and reminded him to correct his records so the same thing didn't happen again in July. Exactly the same thing did happen again in July and Richard Haddrell had to correct it again.
