I can't believe that Manchester, Hull and Richmond all have clashing junior events, as well as two sections of the London Junior Championship, and the English Junior Championship!

Is it really a problem if there are other events at the same time? Does it not reflect the fact that there is more activity in UK chess than people sometimes recognise.
I for one am really looking forward to the London Chess Classic. I can only get down for the Saturday, but I think it's good that there are events running around the main attraction to enable as much participation as possible. This is probably the best thing to happen in British chess for many many years. All power to the organisers' elbows.

Thanks Steve, and come and say hello! I am not surprised to see that there are so many clashes. when I first started organising, all the London organisers had regular meetings to schedule events and try to avoid the inevitable. Now it seems nobody even checks the BCM calendar before they set dates ;-(I for one am really looking forward to the London Chess Classic. I can only get down for the Saturday, but I think it's good that there are events running around the main attraction to enable as much participation as possible.
