Back at the chess, Carlsen is a piece up but Bu Xiangzhi looks to have sufficient compensation.

An awful way to leave the tournament after he sensationally beat Anand but Kovalyev has clearly had enough and checked out of the hotel. https://twitter.com/chess24com?ref_src= ... r%5Eauthor

When in Georgia, dress as the Georgians tell you, apparently. And another one for the Azmai files!
Kovalyov striking a blow for the amateur who really does not need to obey at all costs, perhaps.
Back at the chess, Aronian looks good, Ivanchuk v Kramnik looks like an advantage to White to this human, though not to the engine; and it doesn't seem that Bu quite has full compensation.

The engines seem to think that Carlsen is worse now against Bu. Carlsen doesn't seem to be quite playing the right moves. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that Carlsen might end up losing this!

Not sure about that, but judging by the clocks MC is a bit rattled.Christopher Kreuzer wrote:Back at the chess, Carlsen is a piece up but Bu Xiangzhi looks to have sufficient compensation.

wrong on all three then, a new record. (maybe just on two of them;Aronian still looking good).Jonathan Rogers wrote:When in Georgia, dress as the Georgians tell you, apparently. And another one for the Azmai files!

So seems to have recovered from his last event! Though I expect he is particularly effective against the non-elites.

Kramnik just needs to move his Kingside formation one rank backJonathan Rogers wrote: Back at the chess, Aronian looks good, Ivanchuk v Kramnik looks like an advantage to White to this human, though not to the engine;

It went from slightly better for Carlsen to worse for him. And yes, he is in big time trouble. Practically losing, now, I would say (definitely losing now after 24.Kf2).

Clear win (after 28 Qxf5+) might still be hard to see over the board.

"Apparently Seirawan has been telling a story about Nigel Short wearing shorts at an Interzonal in Switzerland."
If that's Biel 1985, I can confirm it was very hot. Lots of people were wearing shorts or very casual clothing...

Looks as though MC and CK both understood the position better than I did.NickFaulks wrote:Not sure about that, but judging by the clocks MC is a bit rattled.Christopher Kreuzer wrote:Back at the chess, Carlsen is a piece up but Bu Xiangzhi looks to have sufficient compensation.

A big test of Carlsen's temperament tomorrow. He's been known to beat himself up severely after a bad loss. If he reacts badly again, we may have a character flaw to chew over, not to mention a shock

Thanks. As a jeans and Tshirt guy I dislike dress codes on principle but I also think that it's generally wise to follow the arbiters' instructions . (This goes in spades for Nigel of course, who is very big on the rules being followed unless it's him that has to follow them.)
