"There's presumably no snow in Reykjavik, or that would have had to be cancelled."
Well, there was a bit yesterday, and the temperature was -8 this afternoon, but we managed...

It is fine nowRoger de Coverly wrote: ↑Thu Mar 08, 2018 12:04 pmBlackpool is this weekend. Any danger of a cancellation?
Replacement bus service from Preston to Blackpool at the moment due to electrification work on the line; having been into Manchester yesterday and today, I can say the trains are packed, and horrible

Gulp. I look forward to my rail journeys in and out of Manchester Piccadilly tomorrow morning.Mick Norris wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 6:17 pmIt is fine nowRoger de Coverly wrote: ↑Thu Mar 08, 2018 12:04 pmBlackpool is this weekend. Any danger of a cancellation?

I did think of playing this year and got as far as researching train times. That was when I found the train was a bus, so I dropped the idea.Mick Norris wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 6:17 pmReplacement bus service from Preston to Blackpool at the moment due to electrification work on the line

For whatever reason(s) the trains have been allergic to Bolton (and beyond!) for quite some time now.....

Re: Snow Cancellations
That was a shame Roger. The brand new buses are a superior transport offering to what you could have traveled on if you had to go by train, some over 30+ years old.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:08 pmI did think of playing this year and got as far as researching train times. An extract from the https://www.blackpooltransport.com/blac ... e-involved
"The good news is that whilst journey times are slightly longer, you get all the benefits of Palladium when travelling on our buses. Free WiFi, USB charging points, comfy E-leather seats, next stop audio/visual announcements and more! There's even mobile phone device holders built in to the back of each seat so you can sit back and relax - not to mention space for two wheelchair user's on most of these buses along with tables on the upper deck to keep you seated with your friends or family."

Re: Snow Cancellations
I think Bolton station is shut at weekends until further notice as they are reopening the old track through what was the car park When finished the good news is there will be more trains and a much improved serviceMartinCarpenter wrote: ↑Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:20 pmFor whatever reason(s) the trains have been allergic to Bolton (and beyond!) for quite some time now.....

Re: Snow Cancellations
My phone has just warned me of a yellow warning of snow for Sunday, covering the whole of the south east. That could potentially affect this weekend's 4NCL in Wokefield Park. That said, there are no hills between that venue and the M4.
The 4NCL over the years has usually managed to dodge severe snow conditions. Road accidents on the M40 and M1 perhaps not so.

Why will it effect Wokefield Park? I have been asked to play Sat 24th?

Forecast for Bolton
"Cold this weekend with temperatures not getting much above zero during the days. Feeling bitterly cold in the quite strong east to north-easterly winds. Some sunny intervals are likely at times but with snow showers as well and Saturday night is perhaps the most likely time to see these. "

Re: Snow Cancellations
Enjoy - so we may get snow at Twickenham?
On the original post on snow cancellation of U180 match & others we chose 24th to avoid the 1&2 on 17th
Watch the weather sites & news. Of course setting off tomorrow & having a Fri night at the hotel may be best!

and to clash with 3&4, I wonder where U180s tend to play.

Re: Snow Cancellations
That does seem unfortunately daft These split 4NCL weekends can make it very hard to find dates of course.
Don't think the weather this weekend will threaten 3N. Might be fun on the moors.....
