Yeah, that's not even close to a record.

Re: Greatest Chess World Record......
If we consider the specific case of a Black pawn on e2:
https://www.365chess.com/game.php?gid=2879834
Move 25, Black pawn appears on e2. 43 moves later, Black resigns.
So you're not a terribly long way off being halfway to the record. Or what used to be the record anyway, since I only searched up to 2006.

Cheparinov-Stefanova, Corus Wijk aan Zee B 2005.
Black's pawn arrives on d2 on move 31 and stays there for 123 moves.
The game was notable for other reasons.

Sorry everybody. Guess I'll just have to be satisfied with my 44 ply victory and personal record about my pawn.

There are some staggering records out there, back in 1975 in my home town there was a game played by a future Grand master and a contributor to this forum where neither king moved at any point in the entire game.

If there is a record of that game please share it with the chess world. Thank you.

It is a reference to the infamous "no moves draw" at Luton in 1975, I believe.

Re: Greatest Chess World Record......
It's in all the record books although admittedly the game analysis I've never seen...perhaps it was never published.
The irony was that as a schoolboy I was a huge fan of 'The Complete Chess Addict' by Mike Fox and Richard James, and read about the game not knowing that the bus I often took to school went right past the premises where it occurred.
It was a games between Tony Miles and Stewart Reuben, again I have never been able to track down the game analysis.

Timman vs. Tal Game 4, 1988
Neither player even says check, let alone moves the king. And in a Sicilian no less!

More than one or two checks to follow in this position, can you guess exactly how many consecutive checks can be made? It's white to move.

Tim Krabbé has this covered at http://www.xs4all.nl/~timkr/chess/check.html
(tl,dr: The position above was the world record for a while but has been surpassed by 9 checks)
