We don't talk about it too often, but in 2013/14, the first team lost its last two matches in the relegation pool and finished eleventh!IM Jack Rudd wrote: ↑Sun Mar 25, 2018 11:27 pmIf teams from a squad finish in the wrong order, then for purposes of divisions and seedings the following season, they are taken to have occupied the positions they did but in the right order.
(This actually happened a few seasons ago in Division 1, where Barbican 2 finished eighth and Barbican 1 ninth. The following season, Barbican 1 were in the fourth seeding pot and Barbican 2 the fifth.)
It is true that in the following season, 2014/15, the first team was given the higher seeding that the second team had earned in the previous season. But this was not uncontroversial - the Board as a whole was not unanimous that this was the right thing to do.
However, in our case, both teams were staying in the first division anyway. The only question was which pool and as what seed? If at the end of a season, a second team somehow found itself qualified for the division above that of the first team, I think that everyone would agree to a swap around.
