My memory, not 100% reliable, suggests that one of BH Wood's three sons was known as Frank and that his initials were RFT. That might be checkable with BH's daughter Peggy, widow of Peter Clarke, who may still be living in North Devon. Jack Rudd might be able to provide a link.

Alternatively, one of BH Wood's other sons was Philip Wood, who currently plays for Kenilworth chess club. He could probably be contacted via this link for the club - http://kenilworthchess.blogspot.co.uk/p ... ge_13.html.Leonard Barden wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 3:51 pmMy memory, not 100% reliable, suggests that one of BH Wood's three sons was known as Frank and that his initials were RFT. No, sorry.
BH Wood's children were CB, RFT and MEE Wood, now the widow of PH Clarke as you say. Christopher, Frank and Peggy. I can't get a Philip out of this. (Or see the Wood for the trees?) Ouch

Wikipedia disagrees.
"Wood's sons Christopher, Frank and Philip are also strong chess players."

There is a Philip according to this report - http://www.keverelchess.com/tag/peter-clarke-memorial/ - "The only half point [the winner] dropped was to Peter’s brother-in-law, Philip Wood, one of B. H. Wood’s 3 chess-playing sons. (Once upon a time, Sutton Colfield 1st team in the Birmingham League consisted of all 4 Woods)."James Pratt wrote: ↑Fri Mar 30, 2018 11:43 pmNo, sorry.

Three of the photographs in the tournament report have Philip Wood in them. I'd say there is a clear resemblance between him and BH Wood.

Gentlemen
Thank you for your replies.
The reason I am trying to contact Mr Wood is to seek his permission to use his name in a book I have written.......I was the one who spoiled it all for him in 1974........
I need to contact Mr Barden for the same reason and I have sent him a private message.
Cheers
