Matthew was very happy to finish his very last match as a Reading pupil with the team becoming champions for the 3rd time in 5 years

An interesting and perhaps unique pairing method. A 16 team Swiss over 4 rounds, but as it's a team competition, ties can be broken the traditional way by board count or bottom board elimination. There will only ever be two teams on 3/3 after three rounds, so you can have a head to head for the trophy and runner up.

Indeed the championships have always been a knockout tournament and that has been preserved in this format.
