Thanet Chess Congress 2018
The 49th Thanet Chess Congress will take place at St. George’s C of E Foundation School, Westwood Road, Broadstairs CT10 2LH from August 17-19. There are five sections and entry is once again free for GMs and IMs, and only £5 for U16s. Early booking is advised. For more details and online entry go to http://www.thanetchesscongress.co.uk

A couple of tips from previous years' experiences. If travelling by public transport, use Ramsgate station rather than Broadstairs because there's a frequent bus which passes through the nearby shopping mall. If travelling by car, beware the M25 and M20 on a summer Friday.

Open Champion: IM Adam Hunt 1st prize 4/5
Kent Open Champ: Mikey Watson 2nd= 3.5/5
(No sign of Shreyas - he may be concentrating on junior international titles now!?)
Congratulations to organiser Andy Flood and arbiter Kevin Thurlow who hope to pull a 50th Thanet Congress out of the bag next year in Aug.
