Exellent last round game Jack.

I see you were posting miserable the other day.
You will have to learn how to win ugly when the creative juices don't flow.

Ugly = the boring technical way.

A great result for Mark H-Bomb.
The quick last round win clinching draw was just reward for the effort he
put in throughout the whole tournament.

The more I look at Jack's last round game, the more I like it.

After a series of piratical misadventures, Captain Jack 'Sparrow' Rudd finally discovers the Black Pearl...

Hawkins is now two pawns up against Talsma in a queen ending. I'd be astonished if he failed to wrap the norm up from here.

Third norm and we believe he made the 2400 mark during the event.

Mitchell lost. If today's calculations are correct, he just missed out on a norm.

Congrats Johny hopefully the gm title will soon follow. You are right Ian he now somehow has to get the funding to play more events in europe to give himself a shot at achieving the GM title
I am speaking here for myself and not the NCCU which i am now president of

I'm a bit disappointed for Martin Mitchell, I hope he wasn't told he had got a norm after 8 rounds and went out to celebrate. He played well for a long time today before he rather bizarrely collapsed. After 34..... Be4 he loses a pawn but surely it must be an easy draw and to lose only 7 moves later is a bit of a heartbreaker.
