England women win 4-0
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

I suspect they might get a draw on Board 4 after a very long game but I imagine Luke and Gawain will find a way to win.

If we do see a decisive result on board one, I would still rather expect it to be a win for Luke. -0.37, what does that mean?

Still, great amusement for us non-Olympiad members!

Li Chao looks to be the biggest casualty so far. Must admit that, given the number of excellent players they leave out of their team, I do not understand why he is playing again for China, even as "board five". He was mainly "to blame" for their defeat to England two years ago.

Li Chao hasn't lost yet. Bologan was totally sunk but drew.

Nick has done what you asked - he's drawn with Black. Unfortunately in Round1, but against someone who looked reasonably competent for less than 2300.

Nick Burrows asks whether England have chess training camps.
Usually the English adults don't. Perhaps the nearest the English women came to that was when they met in my living room along time ago when Pter Wells was their captain.
There are financial constraints and the open team is fiercely individualistic.

More so than in many other countries, some of which use them extensively and have done rather well recently (eg India), one is bound to ask?

It's claimed that Guam have drawn with Iraq, something I'm not inclined to believe. In fact there seem to be a few dud scores around, including the 1723 from Nauru reported as having beaten a Jordanian FM, unless you look at the actual game. Mooney of Jersey probably hasn't drawn with a Venezuelan four hundred points stronger than he is. Ben Hague, contrary to a post I've deleted, probably hasn't dropped half a point against the Seychelles.

However, I do think Sanches of Surinam has drawn with Ivic of Serbia.
