This is surely true, and just as surely, neither here nor there.
Isai Scheinberg is a fugitive from the USA because he did something which would not be an offence in most jurisdictions.
To my mind that is very different from his having done something which would be an offence in almost any jurisdiction.
This isn't right though, is it? What Scheinberg and his fellows were charged with was a range of offences which would be offences in other jurisdictions. If you lie to a bank about the purpose of an account, or a transaction, in order to hide illegal activity, that's an offence in itself, and a serious one. The nature of the activity may be illegal in one jurisdiction and legal in another - that's for sure. But the deception is not.

I confidently predict that your campaign to get players to boycott the Chess.com Isle of Man International will continue to be totally unsuccessful.
The existence of this campaign is unknown to me. If it is in any forum posting or blog post written by me or anybody else, perhaps it could be drawn to my attention. Currently it appears to be better hidden from prying eyes than an offshore account.

Someone has abducted your blog then.

Nevada voted with the winner in every US presidential election from 1980 to 2012. I'm sure this has no bearing at all on the amount of influence Nevadan businesspeople have over the government.

Thanks Justin.
Carl, Justin and I sorted it out in private messages, with the result that you see and didn't see.

Round 1 pairings and its incredible to see that there are 82 boards and Simon Williams is Black on Board 80! Anyway we're off and running on
Chess 24.

How often do you see a tournament where a round 1 all-GM clash doesn't get onto the liveboards?

BIG BIG upset looming on board 6 where the machine says Vishy is losing to his 12-year-old IM compatriot Raunak Sadhwani (born December 2005) who is a total unknown compared with prodigy GMs Nihai Sarin and Pragg yet came out prepared to the hilt against the legend's 4...g6 Spanish.
I have to say it: compare the splendid wealth of Indian talent with our own of 40 years ago and contrast it now with the thread on the World Youth 2018 where our best seeded player is Koby at No 24 and no others seeded in the top 40.
Alex has an immense task as Junior Director if he wants to change this pattern of decline.

I had a quick glance at that position just now. White clearly has a lot of compensation for his pawn, but I can't see an immediate way to exploit it. Maybe I should go and watch it somewhere with an engine to see what's going on.

Kramnik's game (again v a lower rated Indian) also not looking too hot right now.

Kramnik, So, Anand and Wang Hao were all worse against lower-rated Indians, but the elite are fighting back in the third hour of play.

Oh, I think he was playing in the same Prague tournament that I was earlier this year. I think Ladrón De Guevera is a single name - I don't know the origins of it (and as it happens,
ladrón means thief) but this sort of portmanteau name isn't that unusual. (See for instance
Sáenz de Santamaría).
