Don't reckon the organisers will be too disappointed we're headed for tiebreaks.

GM Niclas Huschenbeth "Smart decision by Carlsen. No need to risk everything in one game when he can play four on Wednesday."
Tie-breaks on Wednesday:
- four 25+10 rapid games
- two 5+3 blitz games
- four more blitz mini-matches of two games
- one last Armageddon where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4 (and a draw wins for Black)

Kasparov:
"In light of this shocking draw offer from Magnus in a superior position with more time, I reconsider my evaluation of him being the favorite in rapids. Tiebreaks require tremendous nerves and he seems to be losing his."

Wouldn't it be better if they played the whole match in reverse order? Start with the Armageddon, then blitz, then rapid, and finish with the actual match. The organisers get their tiebreak, but the real point is that at any stage one of them is in the lead. Lose the Armageddon, you take a few chances in the blitz because you've nothing to lose. And when you get to the match itself all you've actually decided is who wins if it finishes 6-6, but that would surely lead to more enterprising chess than what we have seen.Richard Bates wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 6:26 pmDon't reckon the organisers will be too disappointed we're headed for tiebreaks.

Grischuk on tiebreaks: "I think if they would be playing 'the loser dies' then Fabiano would be the favourite"
Svidler: "...I have no comeback to this. I think this is the right note on which to end this show... so that is the last thing that people remember"

No. For the reasons that are mentioned whenever this is suggested (which are also the reasons why it’s never happened in football despite it being suggested for penalty shootouts for at least 25 years.)David Williams wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 6:48 pmWouldn't it be better if they played the whole match in reverse order?

Re: 2018 World Championship in London
That was a let down.
Carlsen was up on the clock, Fabiano was down to 8 minutes and Black had
some good ideas there. He should have taken him to move 40 at the very least.
Kasparov maybe right, perhaps Carlsen has lost his bottle.
It has ruined a very good chess match. Hope Caissa pays him back on Wednesday....Twice!
The Mozart of chess...and this was his unfinished symphony.
Very disappointed it's gone again to tie breaks, Carlsen will win, there is no justice in chess.

Hard to see Carlsen doing what he did today even in the match two years ago.
I was hitherto sceptical of such claims, but this does make it seem that Fab has got under his skin after all.
If so, it should not be presumed that Magnus is favourite on Wednesday.

No tie breaks before the match. The winner then has draw odds.
And why waste time money and effort on a side show t before the main event when
you might not even need it. As it is OK just wish Carlsen had played on for a few moves.
