SCCU/London Club Championships
Here’s something new. The Southern Counties Chess Union (SCCU) is running a Club Championship rapidplay tournament for teams in the SCCU/London Region. There are three sections for teams of four players with maximum average grades of ECF 180, 150 and 120. It all takes place at St Luke’s Church off the Finchley Road, on Saturday, 29 June 2019. There’s only room for 40 teams so those interested might want to get their entries in once the January 2019 grades are available. More details in the tournament brochure https://sccu-chess.com/index.php/en/london-club-champs

Is a 4NCL squad a "club" within the meaning of the brochure?David Gilbert wrote: ↑Mon Dec 17, 2018 3:33 pmMore details in the tournament brochure https://sccu-chess.com/index.php/en/london-club-champs

Roger we are looking to attract teams from Clubs that play in Leagues within the London/SCCU regions or from Schools or other junior organisations that have a chess club or run chess classes.

Re: SCCU/London Club Championships
Is this clashing with National County Finals (100th)?
My club will likely enter on the basis of support Adam given in our area in 2018. A shame not on here earlier as we have just played our last fixture of 2018 & on timing of this will be last fixtures in 2019.
Roger your team in 4NCL were about 180 first week of the season - my 4NCL team played your team in round 2.

Re: SCCU/London Club Championships
Hooray! The trophies arrived this afternoon! Bad news, they are all incorrectly engraved “selection” instead of “section”. It’s an easy mistake, only it happened twelve times! New plates will be needed. Previously the same supplier was doing more Trading Places, engraving my League’s James Curtis Trophy as the Jamie Curtis Trophy. (see what he did there?)

Almost there. We'd be happy to receive late entries into the 180 and 150 sections especially. It's always preferable to have even numbers in team events. What better way to spend your Saturday? And I'll be there too! Entry and player lists are here https://sccu-chess.com/index.php/en/teams

Nice photos - is David Sedgwick asleep against Richmond Juniors? Or is that a look of deep concentration?
