Another new IM

To be confirmed, etc etc, but Matthew Wadsworth had three valid norms when, rated 2396, he beat Andrew Ledger on Saturday at 4NCL, so he can certainly be called IM-elect with some confidence until his title is ratified. (He seems to be playing closer to 2450+ level right now).

James Jackson requires 12 points for the title, and is playing in Dublin on 2/2 after wins vs lower rated players:

Draw this evening with GM Epishin won't harm Jackson's cause. He may be there now - or does he need to be 2400+ at the end of the event, or on the May list?

Needs to be live over 2400 to qualify, currently gaining 8 points so requires 4 more yet

It is encouraging that English title aspirants seem to get their three norms first, leaving the 2400 rating as the final piece of the jigsaw. This suggests that, one way or another, they are finding enough norm opportunities.

I am guessing that today's win does the trick, then?

I think it does; he gains 4.4 for the win, but I would like another point to be on the safe side just in case his current rating is 2387.6 and has been rounded up

Let's hope so, as he lost in the final round

Ah, duh, sorry about that. Mind you I thought it was Sunday for much of yesterday.

So how is it established if James passed 2400? Does a claim need to be put to Fide to confirm it?

It very simple really; just put the round by round results into the FIDE rating calculator; and hey bingo it gives you your answer

Yes. A claim needs to be made to FIDE, with documentation. Arrangements for this are in hand.

It will be unnecessary if James's rating on the 1st May FIDE Rating List is 2400 or higher.

I thought you yourself said it was uncertain?
